Hi,

I am a devoted Photoshop user since 30 years.
Now I am getting into using it for video works as well. I do this mostly because I want to use its extensive filter collection – BUT to my dismal they don't work in the right way for videos...
The smallest size for the different brushes etc are way to big for making nice filtering on ordinary HD videos. It has to do with the resolution that usually with still photography is much higher i.e. then the pencils get much smaller.
How can I work with video the same way as I work with my artistic photos without getting a drab and clumsy result??

Which Filters are you talking about specifically?

Though I see no way to change the minimal and maximal settings of the various Filter Gallery Filters anyway, other than (clumsy) work-arounds of using up- or downsampled SOs within SOs.

And I think that if you are serious about video-work you should not waste your time on Photoshop for this but look into Premiere and After Effects (or non-Adobe alternatives) right away.

Like I mentioned the best I could think of in this case would be applying the Filter to a down- or upsampled version, packaging that into a new one and up- or downsampling that.

That is crude and would probably need some additional work at the final resolution …
