Camera Raw Plugin Trouble

Explorer ,
May 18, 2024 May 18, 2024

I have downloaded and installed the raw plugin for adobe 2024 but am unable to open .raf raw files.  Adobe's request for me to download the plugin keeps repeating, on a loop it seems.  This is something new. I am on a Mac with the latest software and the M1 chip.  Anyone have any idea why this is happening?  I have restarted PSE but that didn't clear the issue.  Thanks.

Hi All,

Spent almost an hour today with an Adobe tech.  The workaround is that I will be able to use the Raw feature of my camera if I convert the .raf file into Adobe's DNG file.  "The issue is peculiar," said the tech.  Indeed it is.

That's good.

Now you'll need to create the elements 24>plug-ins>file formats folder

and move Camera Raw.plugin from the cc folder to the elements 24 folder

as explained below:

In the Plug-Ins folder create a Elements 24 folder, then inside that create a File Formats folder

Now move the Camera Raw.plugin from the Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats folder to the Plug-Ins/Elements 24/File Formats folder

Thanks.  Did as you asked but after closing elements and reopening it I still get the adobe message asking me to install the camera raw plug in.  I need to check my camera settings. It seems that the raw plug-in will work with one setting on my camera but not another; I'm still investigating that.  I hope that will provide an easy answer to this issue.

Do you still have an older photoshop elements version that those X10.raf files work in?

I might. It's a good suggestion, thanks.

You most likely won't be able to install it on your new Mac, but if you still have your old Mac, you can tell us what Photoshop Elements version and Camera Raw plugin opens those X10.raf files.

Maybe you could even provide us with a sample X10.raf file using a service like DropBox so we can try on our own machines?

Jeff,

I attach a .raf file for you to fiddle with.  The old mac, the one I'm using now, with element 2024 worked fine with .raf files until a recent update from adobe.  The new plug-in is 16.  I guess the old one was number 15.

Just noticed the file was not accepted.   Don't have drop box.   Maybe you could create your own raw file.  Good luck.
