Question

Adding textures to Filter Gallery

Hi all,

I am trying to add a file (.psd) as a texture to the filter gallery. I understand I can go to the filter gallery, select texturizer, click on the drop down box and load texture. When I do that, it all seems to work with no error message, but the new texture does not appear in the gallery.

I know I can do it as a pattern, but I would like to know why it does not seem to work in filter gallery.

I also know I can just use the image as a layer and use blend modes, etc to get the textured effect.

TIA

Regards,

Steve

The psd file either has to be flattened or saved with Maximize Compatibilty for it to work with any of the filter gallery filters that load textures.

You could also convert the file to a flattened Greyscale file and use that

I have tried both suggestions above and it has not worked. I still cannot
use the file as a filter.

What size is the file in terms of pixel dimensions?

Are you able to post the psd file here on the forum as an attachment so other users can try the psd?

    Im having a similar problem.

Running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC Version 1809 build 17763.2928

    Photoshop 16.0

I have tried different file sizes for the PSD file I want to add as texture to the glass option of the filter gallery. I can choose to load texture and select the relevant file but it does not show up. There is no error message. It just stays on the default texture option.

What operating system and version of photoshop are you using?

The default textures in the drop-down list work okay?

Could you post a screenshot of the Filter Gallery with one of the psd files loaded as a texture?

    I am using Win 10, V1709 build 16299.431.  Photoshop CC 19.1.3.

    The defaults work OK.

There would be no point in posting a screen shot as it would only show the defaults.  As I have said, a loaded psd file does not show up in the dropdown.  However, I have been able to get it to work by reducing the size of the psd file to 256 pixels wide.  There must be a file size limit.  I have yet to find out what that size limit is.

    Regards,

    Steve
