Adobe Photoshop 20.0.5 Select & Mask Edge Detection Issue - macOS Mojave

It seems since this latest update when I use "Edge Detection" within the refine edge/mask tool I get an odd error that limits the tool to a close, invisible 'box' around the subject. When trying to refine, there is a hard edge that the tool will not cross.

Exiting the tool and refining without Edge Detection on behaves normally without issue.

However, as soon as the option is checked, the box "appears" and limits the results inside. This is hampering hair extraction and adding time to my workflow.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi there,

That shouldn't be happening, Let's fix this.

As you're facing issue with the refine edge panel, could you please share Photoshop's Help > System Info dialog text here? As it would be helpful for us to troubleshoot further.

Also, does it happen with every image or some specific images?

This happens on every image, either at first open (where memory use is lower) or after long periods of use.

Looks like you are on Mac Mojave, go back to High Sierra. First try getting out of dark mode.

What exact version of Photoshop do you have, Refine Edge was removed in CC2017 and replace with Select and Mask, although you can get the old Refine Edge to open in the most recent versions
