Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 - Content aware crop bug

Since updating to Photoshop CC 2018 I noticed a bug with the "content aware crop" option in the crop (C) tool.

As you can see in the video, I click on "content aware fill" and press enter, but I only get transparent edges instead of content aware fill:

When I save the image and close it and open it again, it ususally works, but it does NOT work usually, when I performed some other steps (like patching and fulling).

Any idea on how to solve this?

I work on a Win10 PC.

Hi berlinstil2,

As I understand the crop tool is not functionong as expected in the new release.

To start with the troubleshooting, I'd recommend you to reset the tool once and check.

Thanks,

We got the exact same problem. Since the CC 2018 Update the "content aware" (in German: inhaltsbasiert) checkbox is gone. It's like the space for the checkbox is there but not the actual checkbox.

Edit: Oh dude. I needed to laugh so hard. Found a similar thread and found out that this strange icon right beside the crop-tool with trash icon is the "content-aware" button.

Since I updated, the content-aware crop and fill are not available in my tools. I am frustrated-- would love to hear what is going on here. the part of the toolbar that is pictured here where the content aware option is located does not show up at all. I have reset, gone through preferences, tired everything. This is on a Mac running Sierra.

You are using the crop tool not the perspective Crop by mistake? the perspective tool does not have a content aware. I am just checking since I do this mistake all the time.

I am using Sierra as well. did you try to reinstall? if this does not help Will get you a number for the people behind the scene..

But try and let me know! I get it frustration! i go through it daily...

You can switch the video to Full HD and Fullscreen, then you can see that the "crop" tool is selected and that I selected the "content aware" checkbox (which magically gets switched back to "off" after hitting enter.

The video is not so clear so it is difficult to see. I used MAC book Pro and it is working perfect. Make sure when you Crop you have transparent area to give the content aware room to work.

Here are some screenshots!

Am using a Mac Computer, Ps 2018,  the crop tool is grayed out making it non operational. Have uninstalled program and then reinstalled, that did not correct the problem.

I did reset the tool, but it did not help :-(

I also noticed that the active checkbox gets inactive after clicking "okay" (as seen in the video screencast linked above).
I compared that to PS CC 2017 and there the checkbox stayed active...

Best regards,

Robert
