Before you reinstalled  Photoshop you should have tried resetting your Photoshop Preferences.  So now try resettimg your Photoshop Preferences.  Preferences are not reset if you reinstall Photoshop.  If your Preferences are corrupt that may be causing to crash.

If you reset your Photoshop Preferences and Photoshop starts you need to Update your Perpetual CS6.  Reinstalling it back leveled CS6 to version 13.0.   Cs6 Version 13.0 is the buggiest release that Adobe ever released.  It is very unstable and needs to be Update. It should  update the Mac version 13.0.6.

Hey thanks for your reply, i just tried this but as soon as i open PS, im unable to access any controls, even if i do it quickly the dialog box mentioned above pops up and i can't click anything else, as soon as i click one of the buttons, it does its thing and closes down before there is the option to do anything else even with shortcut keys.

Im sure there must be something stored somewhere but i don't know where its reading the information from, it somehow still has access to the unsaved file i was working on as it flashed up on the screen - even after fresh install.

UPDATE: I manually searched for prefferences using Library > preferences

found the file names Adobe Photoshop CS6 settings , deleted it, and also Adobe photoshop cs6 paths, com.adobe.photoshop.plist.

tried moving everything out of that file completely, didnt fix it either

so i put them back ...
