after last major photoshop update, all filter gallery filters cause posterization to any image

Hi, after the last major Photoshop cloud subscription update, when I apply any filter from the default filter gallery filters, they just cause one color tone posterization. So just wide bands of slightly different tones of blue for example. It happens to any file type, and with all the built-in gallery filters. I have a HP laptop, 2.2ghz, 8 gig RAM, with pre-installed 64bit Windows 10, which is totally up-to-date. Everything else still works perfectly, even my Nik effects filters installed Photoshop still work perfectly. I use the gallery artistic filters a lot so it is very frustrating.

I can usually fix all tech issues with internet research and have fixed several photoshop issues in the past that occurred after updates, but nothing on the web or in forums that I can find. It is hard to believe I am the only person in the world with this issue!

Hi there,

That should not be happening, could you please let us know the exact version of Photoshop and the operating system you're working on?
Also, could you please try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

I deselected "use graphics processor" and restarted photoshop, no difference. The lightroom faq does not apply because it is the same default graphics card in this HP for 2 years which has been working in photoshop no problems until recently.
