Appending layer to group not working

Hello there,

For a few days now, each once in a while there is a group, to which I want to append (that arrow pointing down) a layer. It just won't work. The alt key is not working and not even the button in the >layer tab. The very same layer works for other group in the same project, not working on certain ones.

I am not sure what you are trying to describe, could you post a screens reording or screenshots to clarify?
