'Artifacts' and generally bad results. Select and Mask issues Mac Pro 2013 model

Hi, first time i sought help in this way, but i've searched the net so many times, i can't count, really hope somebody knows a solution. I've had this issue with 2020 as well as 2021.

The refine edge/hair options are just close to unusable, due to random destructive artifacts/pixels and just plain ugly results.

Below a zoom in, especially the hard jagged things, those aren't display only, when saved its my actual selection. They just show up randomly.

I also added a bit more zoomed out part of the selection, showing that de hair isn't great in general, and the part of the photo showing that it shouldnt be this bad of a result, the hair is pretty good. Finally, i added my specs and performance settings.

Really hope somebody knows why this is happening! Thanks in advance, Boy

Actually I'm surprised Select and Mask works at all. It uses OpenCL code in the GPU - but your driver doesn't enable OpenCL. What happens if you try to check it?

In any case, this is a video driver issue. Unfortunately you can't update the driver in MacOS, it's integrated into the OS. The question is whether Mojave will get any more updates.

Thanks for your reply!

It used to be checked, i tried it out to see if it made a difference.

Could updating my Mac OS fix the graphic driver issue?

Possibly, but before that I'd try to reset PS preferences. There's always a small chance that corrupt preferences can trip things up. Just to get it out of the way.

I see this card was released in 2014, so that's six years ago. The official Adobe recommendation is a card from the last four years or so. Photoshop GPU requirements tighten with every release, so it's possible that PS version 21 may work better. If you don't already have it installed, it's still available in the CC desktop app.
