Greetings everyone,
I had the same issue, 100+ images provided by a designer, using a mac.
I tried to run the batch right away, getting an error on every command.
Photoshop on windows, when running a batch, will try to run the DS_STORE files generated by a mac.
These are normally hidden in folders, so you'll have to have hidden files visible.
I had test_image_0001.jpg as the actual file i was trying to resize, but before it, was a ._test_image_001.jpg which was throwing photoshop for a loop.

What is the recorded Command? What should the action do?

that's because you are trying to access a command that doesn't work with the current settings of the file like say trying to use Liquify on an Indexed color image

its happening with any commands for example I was chaning the levels on an image sequence. So open image unlock layer 1, adjust levels, close image, save. Thats it! Dont see why its so hard for cs4 to do this

I'm having the exact same problem, I am working in cs4, and any of my batches I try to run even the default batches, when I try to batch I get
(The command " " is not currently available),
and I just can't figure it out, and I'm on a deadline with these its a very large launch. Any batch I try to run does the same thing that's why in between the quotes are empty.
I'm running TIFF's but it doesn't matter because I've done this before over and over for 3 years now and I have been working with Photoshop since its birth in 1990,
I'm sweatin bullets please help.

I take it this has not been resolved? I'm getting this problem with various images with different action commands. I've had the same action work previously on the same PC so why would a command within an action stop working?

I had the same problem, and stumbled onto a solution. It seems that the action was unable to open the files, and that's why the "command is unavailable."
In earlier versions of Photoshop, I opened a file first, then recorded the action. If you do that, and have no "open" "save" or "close" commands in your action, none of the check boxes in the "Batch" window should be checked.
What I did was to start recording the action before opening a file and adjusting it. Then, while still recording, I saved the file. then I stopped recording. So, the action had "open" and "save" commands in it.
Then I checked the "override action 'Open' commands" check box. That worked.
So, then I tried some of the default actions, which have no "open" or "save" commands in them. They only work with all the check boxes unchecked.

Once i removed these stupid DS_Store files, the batch worked as it should.
I hope this helps!

Make sure you do not have overirde open commands if you are doing a batch command. That will keep any images from even opening if you did not capture it in your action.
