blur gallery field blur pins not working

In the past, I used the field blur, plopped down some pins and then would turn them up or down depending on the amount of blur.

For background, I am trying to get rid of the "mess" in the background .  For example, I have a picture of a dog. But in the background is a garden hose, chair, etc. So I would usually duplicate the layer and then do more blur on the bottom layer (Ok I guess this isn't making sense).

So: now I tried using the pins. they are not going where I place them (it seems to be more random) and I can't turn the "dial" up or down on them.

what's up?

I am using the blur gallery to create depth of field. I need to blur the background.

It's not working.

also adobe, it would be nice to have the ability to chat with someone rather then a random post on a bb

I use Windows there are several wat you can reset you Photoshop Preferences but I can only tell you one way for MAC fot I doe not know where Preferences are store on mac's.

With Photoshop not running use the Icon you use to launch Photoshop. Immediately if not sooner press and hole the following keys Shift+CMD+Option I believe are the Mac Key names  On PC the are named Shift+Ctrl+Alt.    If you do this in time before Photoshop shows its startup graphic Photoshop should open a Dialog Window Asking if you want your Preferences deleted reply yes.

If it use to work for you  have you tried resetting Photoshop Tools and your Photoshop preferences?

Adobe does have chat support for problems. Not for teaching how to use Photoshop. If you feel its a bug the Photoshop is not working correctly try Adobe Chat support.  Chat support can help  with installations problem and report bugs the Adobe Program support team. However Adobe keeps making Chat support harder and harder to find.

Before posting your random post to this forum you should search it first to see if your problem has been addressed before.  If is has there is no reason for you to make a random post.

Your are communicating with Adobe uses here you not dealing directly with Adobe here.

IMO Adobe support is not what it should be.
