Brush Curser Disappears when size increases beyond a certain size

I've seen this problem before, but not recently.  My brush curser disappears when I increase the brush size beyond a certain point.  I'm assuming it's the gpu card but I don't really know.  It's a new machine.  Windows 10 pro, AMD 3960 Threadripper, 128 RAM, Nvidia RTX 3090 X 2.  It's very annoying.  Anybody have a suggestion?

As an addendum, the curser appears and disappears as you move the brush.......no matter what size it is..........
