I will be away from home for the summer, and will have access to an older computer. I am going to storage to hunt up one of my many older versions of photoshop to install on the older computer to work during the summer. Will adobe accept my product key from my cd case? I currently use CS6 and have it installed on one, maybe two computers. Thanks for any info!

Presumably the older computer has an older version of an OS?

Yes, it's windows 7.

Ugh, I think at least a couple versions back I was downloading instead of buying a cd. So the photoshop version may be too old to work. I will have to see what I have.

Two points.
1) You can 'install' Photoshop CC on more than two computers. You can only 'sign in' on two at any one time. For instance, I have Photoshop CC installed on a desktop, laptop, and little Cintiq Companion. I don't even sign out of the laptop to use the Cintiq. Just sign in on the other computer and one of the first two computer automatically signs out. I've done this dozens of times, and it is not a problem.
2) We had an issue with older versions recently, and the downloads became no longer available. Our understanding was that this did not apply to Perpetual Licenses, for CS6 and older, but I wanted to use my old CS6 version on another system just last week, and couldn't find the install files. Adobe does not seem to have them available any more, and nor does the ProDesignTools site.
Does anyone know where to download CS6?

Note that if you upgrade a license you don't get any more rights to run more copies. So the old versions would need to have not been used to upgrade. (If they work, which is frankly doubtful).

This should help
Thanks Ged. I eventually found the actual download link, but by heck it was a convoluted set of clicks with a lot of hitting the back button. Order History was the route to the download. The serial numbers were on a different page, and that's as far as I looked the other day. This is for a computer I'll use at a different location, where it will be handy to have Photoshop, and it seems a pity that those older perpetual licenses collect dust after what we paid for them.

I hadn't thought of that, but would that apply to CS6? Did we get a concession with CC if we'd owned CS6? ISTR a six month free start, or a very cheap start at least. I'll be going ahead with the install now Ged has pointed me at the install files, so I guess I'll find out.

The Problem I have is Adobe seems to have messed up my user account. MY order History shows no download links for my order history or my box products. I can not even look at the invoices the link returns Billing History no Match.. Yet My Products show list my registered Perpetual Products and their Serial numbers. Luckly I have all the Box CD and DVD. So I do not need to dowmload my Products. And I dis download the CS2 and CS3 replacement instalers foe they old Activation servers have been taken dowm the CD installers for CS2 and CS3 can not activate CS2 and CS3.

It's my understanding a user only has those download links if one bought the product as an electronic download from adobe.. If a user bought cd/dvds then there is no download links since adobe assumes one kept the cd/dvd in a safe place.

Then Adobe has a problem for they took down the Activation Servers for CS, CS2 and CS3 the CD|DVD the user has from Adobe can not Activate the Photoshop Version they install. Those User needs to be able to download the new installers Adobe has on the Web for those Photoshop versions that do not require Activation.

Well I'm getting a variety of answers, plus someone else's problem now on here. But thank you all for your input, I appreciate it.

2 weeks ago I tried to get CS6 from Customer Care and they wouldn't give me a download link unless I gave them a serial number. And it has to be an individual serial number too; not an education or volume license.
So basically, if you don't own a CS6 perpetual license, you're out of luck. It's no longer included in your Creative Cloud plan.
To make matters worse, we're getting reports in other forums that online chat agents won't give CC subscribers any legacy versions now. Someone needed a 2014 version of DW to work with a legacy feature and he couldn't get it. I have pinged an upper level Adobe staff member about it. But the earliest he'll se it is July 8th when the North American staff return from holiday leave. So we must wait and see....

Trevor, I can't "sign out" of photoshop cs6, just exit. There is no sign in or out that I know of.

Sign Out is only for Creative Cloud, and done via the Application Manager. It's easier than it used to be though. We used to have to go into the Application Manager preferences, stand on one leg, turn around and say 'I love Photoshop' three times. Now we just have to click on our avatar image yo see the panel below. BTW Before anyone panics that my email address is visible, I know and don't care, as my email is easy to find, and it can't be harvested automatically from an image.
With CS6, providing it was installed from the perpetual license, and not the CC Application Manager, we have to go Help > Deactivate. It's so long since I used my CS6 license, I can't remember if I deactivated when installing CC.
But getting back your original question, if you are away for a period of time, then there is no need to revert to CS6. Just use CC V20.0.05 and sign in to it. Sign back in to your home systems when you get back. It's that simple, and I do it all the time.

Oh thanks, I see. I just have a download on my physical computer, not in the cloud for cs6.
I found 3 versions of photoshop in my storage. 5.5, 7 (both of which are "upgrades"), and cs2. I'm most hopeful about 7 or cs2 being able to work. For some reason cs2 only has one cd, and the cover says 2 discs. Maybe something else came with it, I doubt if the install is two discs. If anybody has further comments about whether I have a likelihood of getting either to work on windows 7 and adobe not stopping me from using it, I'd still like to hear. I have serial numbers. Thank you all!

Yup just verified from adobe that I won't be able to use cs2 because I won't be able to activate it. I wonder if there is any workaround. Maybe just getting a nag screen... Or any trial version that deactivates after a certain period of time. I'd be fine with a month. Ugh this is frustrating. I just want to work while I'm away. I don't have a laptop. I have cs6, but already using on two computers, plus it was a download that I don't have access to anymore that I can find. Unless I can somehow figure out how to copy all the installation myself and retrieved the serial number from my registry...

I was able to install Photoshop 7 at least, because I was able to put in the 5.5 disk to verify the upgrade. I'm supposed to register it, which they give you some time to do. Back in the old days...

If you already registered ps 7 there is no use doing it again and besides registration won't from inside photoshop 7 anymore, you'd have to Sign In to your adobe account and add ps 7 to your My Products.

You should however install the 7.0.1 update
Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 update

It has been said here on the forums that adobe customer support no longer has access to the non activation cs2, though some users have been persistence with customer support and gotten a non activation version of cs3.

There are three current versions of Photoshop CS6 Perpetual Mac version 13.0.6. Perpetual Windows version 13.0.1.3 and The Creative Cloud version 13.1.2. I have the Creative Cloud Version Installed in its menu Help there is a Deactivate. If I Click on deactivate in the Creative cloud version I get a popup to sign out and deactivate all my creative cloud versions. I do not want to do that. I would think something similar would happen in the Perpetual CS6 versions, There would be a deactivate and it would be replaces with an Activate menu Item if CS6 is deactivated. If you can not deactivate a machine because you no longer have it or it is broken you need to have Adobe deactivated it.

To add to what the others have mentioned, if your copy has been installed on two computers and hasn't been deactivated, then you have to contact Adobe to reset your license.
