Can only move layers with move tool if I resize them first

Hello,

I have latest Photoshop CC 2019 installed and for the last couple of days I have been unable to move layers with the move tool. When I select a layer I can see in the layers window that it has selected it properly. I have managed to get around the problem by turning on "Show Transform Controls" and resizing the layer slightly, which then allows me to move the it, but it's a bit of a tedious process. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Thanks

James

Do you have auto select checked on for the move tool? If so turn it off. If it's not checked, try resetting your preferences.

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for replying. I have tried unchecking auto select and resetting the tool preferences. I looked through the forum for move tool problems and none of the solutions I came across have worked.

Thanks

James

Have you tried to reset preferences from Preferences > General? Try resetting, it may help because it is not bug it is user specific.

Hello,

I ended up reinstalling Windows 10 and Adobe Photoshop. It works now. The problem occurred shortly after pairing a bluetooth mouse. I might pair it again as it's much better than my mousepad and hope it doesn't mess up the move tool.

Thanks

James
