Can you use xmp files in the dng files?

Is there a way to use the old .xmp files made with the original rwa files in the converted to dng files?

I don't know if you can directly use XMP, but if you have an old arw file, change the XMP to that file's name, open it in Camera Raw and save the settings as a preset. Then you can open the dng and apply the preset to it.

I've found out you can have dng converter make xmp separate or inside the dng file.

EDIT : "original rwa files" Meant are Sony arw files. Hope this is better understood.
