Cannot open .orf with CS6

New Here ,
Mar 25, 2018 Mar 25, 2018

Hi,

My CS6 does not recognize the raw files from my Olympus OM-D10 Mark II.

These are .ORF.

- It asks me to update, but it is up to date

- I tried updating to Cameraw RAW 9.1.1 manually, I did, and indeed, it shows that it has up to date.

- I tried using Acrobat DNG converter but when I point to the files, it does not see any compatible.

Thanks,

Alex

This site lists the cameras supported by the various  ACR versions.

In the list was:

It seems your Olympus OM-D10 Mark II requires version 9.2.

According to:

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

the answer no, it is not.

thanks.

Does it mean that there is no way for me to use CS6 with my actual camera to modify my raw files?

Yes, that is what it means... three possible solutions

1 - I don't use raw, but I think Adobe has a converter that you can use... you will have to search to find it

2 - subscription to the Photography plan https://creative.adobe.com/plans

3 - buy Photoshop Elements... after first checking in that forum to find out if it works with your camera

Not the ORF files which come out of your camera. But you can convert the ORFs to DNG format using the free Adobe DNG converter. You can then edit the DNG files in CS6.

Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

If you want to edit ORF files without having to convert to DNG then you can either subscribe to the Adobe Cloud or buy Photoshop Elements. The latest Photoshop Elements will definitely open ORF files from your camera. Download a free trial and use it for up to 30 days to see if you like it.

Thank you.

I have tried the DNG converter. For some reason, it keeps telling me that my folder with the .orf files contains no compatible files.

I will try elements...

It is Photoshop Elements 15 and I have done an update and it says its up to date. The problem is with ORF files from an Olympus TG5 camera. But I dont know where to find which version it is.

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

The TG-5 was first supported in Camera Raw 9.12

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

Elements 15 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 9.10. There will be no further updates.

So you'll never be able to open Raw ORF files from the TG-5 in Elements 15.

Options:

  1. Pay to upgrade to Elements 2018 and edit your ORF files, or
  2. Download the free Adobe DNG converter, batch convert all ORF files to DNG format. Then edit the DNG files (not the ORF files) in Elements 15. An extra step for you but no extra cost.

Thanks for that John. I have downloaded the Adobe DNG converter and that

does the job.
