Question

Change Background color by using pen tool in Photoshop

Hi My Friends,

I am wondering if you could assist because I've been stuck for hours. Since the object selection tool is not working properly in Photoshop 202, I am using the pen tool to cut out two people in a portrait. I make a selection, then click "Mask". I then convert to Smart Object. However, when I do, the entire selection is transparent. How can I go back and correct that? I am probably missing something since I've been at it for a few hours. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Welcome to the Adobe Community!

It would be helpful to see the full user interface of Photoshop along with the layers panel, as that would give us an idea of the issue you're facing.

Also, I believe you should check the Opacity & Fill of the layer and make sure that they are set to 100%

As the entire selection goes transparent, could you highlight the MASK by clicking on the white thumbnail as shown below and then go to Edit > Fill, then choose the Contents as Color and select White then Click OK?

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Sahil

Please show a screen capture showing the steps you did.  It hard to  follow your description of what you did. Also what OS are you using  and what happens when you try using the object selection tool?
