Color Profile- how to import into PS in sRGB vs Adobe RGB

maybe I haven't noticed this for quite some time but just tonight I was prompted because the color profile didnt match the working one. Never had this come up before. So I was looking and most of my galleries are in AdobeRGB and I need them in sRGB. The working profile is sRGB when in PS.. but my images continue to show up as Adobe RGB. If I click to change them, all of the colors are messed up. And I don't think I should have to change every single image that I load into PS. There has to be something that I am missing. Why are they in bridge as AdobeRGB then load into camera RAW as adobeRGB? Please help!

The working space isn't really important. The embedded document profile should always override it. Any incoming profile should be preserved to avoid unintended data loss. This is what "preserve embedded profiles" in color settings means. Don't change that setting.

To change profile, use Convert to Profile, not Assign Profile! The numbers need to be recalculated to preserve color appearance.

In ACR, you set color space in the Workflow Options. This profile will then be honored in Photoshop, whatever the working space is set to.
