Content Aware Fill Save Selection

Hello all,

I would appreciate your help with this scenario please.

Using the content aware fill window in PS CC 2019, I loaded a saved selection and then removed the green areas so PS will not include them in the content fill analysis. The result in the preview is perfect

My question is can this refined selection with the unwanted green areas removed, be saved as a new selection. So this can be loaded in another content aware fill situation. Alternatively even an recordable action.

Any help would be much welcomed.

Jay

I seem to have been nudged in the right direction by your contributions. I simply took the original mask I had saved, modified it by removing the areas I didn't require and then saved the mask again. This restrained the sampling area, when opening the content aware fill window (the green area was smaller). Which is what I required.

Thanks for your contribution and shining the light.

    Have a great day.

My question is can this refined selection with the unwanted green areas removed, be saved as a new selection.

Select > Save Selection or the »Save selection as channel«-button in the Channels Panel come to mind.

Or am I misunderstanding your intention?

Maybe you should post screenshots with the pertinent Panels visible to clarify.

    Thanks for your reply,

So Select menu is not available in the content aware fill window.

    Here is an example

If I painted out the green selection of the other 2 apples and bowl in the green overlay, the fill should then only sample the taple to fill in over the apples.

So now I would have a new modified mask, which is different to the saved mask. So is it possible to save this as a new mask selection. which i could use on another image which may have oranges in the same location on the table.

Alternatively, if I create a mask which has the 4 objects preselected. Can I have the content aware fill, use an INVERTED selection, therefore only sampling the table?

    Hope this clarifies the scenario

    Thanks for clearing that up.

I am afraid you may want to create and store the selections before invoking the Content-Aware Fill if you need to re-use them later.
