I am a photographer and use LR a great deal, Photoshop hardly at all. So if you are able to offer a suggestion for this request please assume I don't know how to do things in Photoshop!
I want to create an image in which a person is casting off a mask showing one emotion in order to show another emotion underneath. I want it to look like the person is holding a 3D mask which has their face on it and discarding it.
I have no idea how to do this.
Has anyone done it or have any ideas?
Many thanks.

I suppose you could
• Make a photograph in which the subject is holding a stand-in mask (ideally not very big so that you don’t have to remove very much of of it layer on).
• Photograph the »mask«-expression at the appropriate angle and lighting of the stand-in
• Use Layer Masks to clip it and combine it with the other image
This stand in should also work as a reference for the shadows the holding fingers cast on the mask.
Photoshop’s 3D features are limited and do not currently offer extremely meaningful modelling yet.
The Max 3D face thing may take a while to implementation, so don’t wait for it …
