I currently have a Macbook Pro 15-inch, mid-2014. I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS5 software through a student discount in 2012, and recently Adobe customer support helped me re-download the software onto this new computer. However, now when I try to sign into my Adobe ID after opening the CS5 application, an error message appears telling me that my "password must be between 6 and 12 characters and contain no special characters," even though I am sure I am entering my current password (which does contain special characters). Also, the display appears far more pixelated on my retina screen than it ever did before on my old laptop, which didn't have a retina screen. Is this software simply too outdated for the new Apple computers? Do I really need to pay to subscribe to the new Creative Cloud Services when I've already purchased Photoshop software?

You need to contact Adobe for details of your password. Re the retina screen, your version, Photoshop CS5, is end of life and won’t be updated to be used on high resolution displays. You need to subscribe if you want the latest version. The Photographers plan costs around $10 a month and includes Photoshop and Lightroom and updates to the new features as they become available.

If it tells you that your password "must contain..." then this is asking you to create a NEW password. Why are you even logging in, CS5 doesn't need it....? So, please take us through what you do and what happens.
Certainly CS5 will appear pixellated on a retina laptop. The actual pixels are tiny, but Mac OS will be doubling the size of everything. Newer versions use the tiny pixels (so your image is sharp and half the size). CS5 is very old indeed, by current standards.

When I open CS5, a login page appears with the header "Enter an Adobe ID." Under "Already have an Adobe ID?", I am typing in my email address and current Adobe password, which, after clicking "submit," tells me the message about the password characteristics. Although, now that I know this software is end-of-life, I won't be trying to use it again anyways, so it seems the point is mute. Thanks anyways for responding to my question!
