deleting background from an eps file

Hi all,

I know there has to be a quick answer to this question.  I'm just don't use Photoshop enough to know what it is.

I've downloaded an eps file from istock that has the checkered background.  I thought I could just place it in my InDesign file and the background would be transparent - not so.  The background is still the checkered grey boxes.  See the image below.  They included a jpeg and an eps in the download.  Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the checkered background?   Thanks so much!

    Hi lawood21,

The checkerboard you're seeing is how Photoshop displays transparency. If you want the transparency to display differently than the current gray and darker gray checkerboard, you can adjust it in Photoshop's Preferences > Transparency & Gamut.

    Hope this helps.

Can you show a screen shot of the file with the layers pallet open? If what you are seeing in Photoshop was transparency, it would not carry over to InDesign.

EPS files don't generally support transparency when placing, so you may also need to save it in another format.
