Enable TWAIN interface in 64bit Photoshop?

Hi!
I got a Canon Lide 220 flatbed scanner. Using this scanner with photoshop just sucks, I realized this is probably due to the fact that only the WIA interface is available. I did some research on this topic and found some websites dating back to 2014. These pages indicate that Photoshop CS does not support TWAIN drivers in 64 bit. I sincerely hope that this is a bad joke. I don't want to take a step back and switch to 32bit Photoshop just to be able to use my scanner properly.

Could anyone please tell me if by any chance TWAIN can be enabled in 64bit Photoshop CC? WIA really sucks...

Thanks!

Use the native Canon software, and scan to TIFF from there. All TWAIN ever did was call the native software from within Photoshop.

I can no longer recall the full story with TWAIN, except that there were a lot of problems with crashing and so on, and at some point it stopped being included in the Photoshop installation.

    Hi Dag,

Correct. It hasn't been included since CS6 and only for the 32 bit flavor.

TWAIN plug-in scanner | Photoshop CS4 and later

I have Vuescan and they do provide a Vuescan Twain plugin, but better to do as you say. Twain puts Photoshop on hold until the scan completes. Best to follow your advice.

There's WIA for Windows, and Import Images from Device (Mac) but both are just very basic, nothing advanced.

Moved out of the Forum Lounge (not for technical support) and to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.
