Hello

I'm coming to you because I have a little problem

I don't know how to fix it.

When I use the layer masks, the eraser and the brush it behaves the same.

I can't "erase" from the image, I can just "re-add" with both tools.

Thank you for your help

Lorsque j'utilise les masque de fusion, la gomme et le pinceau ce comporte de la meme maniére.

je ne peut pas "effacé" de l'image, je peut juste "rajouter" avec les deux outils.

merci de votre aide

Have you tried resetting fore- and background color (D)?

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible for both the Brush and the Eraser Tool?

What are the Tools’ settings like Blend Mode in the Options Bar?

I hope I can make it clearer:

• If the Forground and Background Colors are white and black

• you can hit X to switch them

• and use the same Brush to reveal and hide on the Layer Mask.

I suspect the problem is that the Background Color is white.

As for your general approach: I suspect many Photoshop users just stick with the Brush Tool and use X to switch the Foreground and Background Colors to paint white and black in turn. (If black and white ate intendend naturally.)
