Woke up this morning to Error 16. It wants me to uninstall and reinstall Photoshop cs6. But there is no uninstall app on my computer. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi there,
We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop. Please try the steps suggested in the article: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/configuration-error.html
Let us know if it helps!

Thx! But there is no SLStore folder in Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore.
Not sure if you saw but I have CS6, not Creative Cloud.

Open Terminal
Copy and Paste this command: sudo chmod -R 777 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe

ok. Nothing happened. After I pasted the command, it asked for my password. After that, I was right back at the original Terminal prompt.

That command does its job but writes no messages.
When looking for SLStore, are you aware of the difference between /Library and ~/Library, and how to go to these folders even though they are hidden?

I don't know whether the Terminal command you suggested worked or not. I guess the measure of success would be if I could open PS again, right? I tried that but no luck. One thing did change though: the error is no longer 16, but 1.
I checked both libraries (I think).
Computer/Library/Application Support/Adobe. No SLStore there.
Computer/Users/my drive/Library/Application Support/Adobe. No SLStore here either.
Is there another library location?
Thanks!

OSX hides certain folders by default as a safety measure. Use the Go > Go to Folder command in your Finder menu and paste: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore

Go to Folder: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
I get this message: The folder can't be found.

Strange, it does work for me, but some have system problems I don't.
Ok, it's been a long time, but if you run the installer, you have an repair or uninstall option if it detects the install. Otherwise run the cleaner tool and go for a new install.

Hmmm. I'm reluctant to use this cleaner mainly because I don't know how customized the cleaning can be. I don't really want to wipe out all my CS6 apps because I have a non-subscription copy of CS6 and of course do not want to begin paying for a subscription.
When the time comes to re-enter the activation code, it may no longer work. I tried that with my copy of CS3: uninstalled and re-installed it only to find out Adobe no longer allowed that activation code.

That's because the activation servers for CS3 were taken off-line. Adobe did for a while provide a non-activation copy, but that has expired.
CS6 can still be activated, unless you got it off a third party that hacked or copied a serial number, or someone broke up a bulk-license pack and sold it to you.

I don't know. Bought the iMac with CS6 installed a few years ago.

It should then have been registered in your name when you got under the email address you gave the seller. If the seller was an individual and he didn't tranfer the license, you might have a problem.
CS6 uses a 24 digit serial number. If you have that with you, register it at:
https://account.adobe.com/products
and see if it's accepted.
That way Adobe will help you if you have activation problems.

Also if you don't want the subscription, Photoshop Elements is a buy to own alternative.
