I had a terrible HD crash on my pretty old iMac. I had a 2007 version of CS on it. that was all I needed.
well, I had backed up/ copied my HD to another drive , but now my Photoshop does not want to work. After talking and chatting with 4 adobe people I am still not any closer. I downloaded CS2 and it goes through the installation process (have to trick it by using option to open the file that makes a disk image). but it comes to the end and states: There were errors installing the software.
well after trying the same ting several times, expecting a different result (According to Albert Einstein; an idiot). I now try to see if there is anyone that has a "trick" up their sleive. I like to install it on my iMac running 10.4.11, if need be my MacBook Pro 10.9.5 and lastly my Mac mini 10.13.1
HELP! I need to make some photoshop alterations to a little prodjct i am working on.

Well, first, Mac Migration and Time Machine DO NOT WORK properly with Adobe program activations due to hidden registration files that are not included when Migration or Time Machine make their copies
Second, did you download the special installer AND serial number?
CS2 + Acrobat 7 + Audition 3 (AND EARLIER) Activation Server is gone, so read below
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html?promoid=19SCDRQK
You MUST use the special version and serial number on the page, not your original disc or serial number
Third, I have read that CS2 will not install at all on a "newer" Mac since there were changes to the Mac operating system such that it will no longer support CS2 (I'm on Windows, so don't know the details... you might ask in a Mac forum)

This is an Adobe forum where you may discuss Mac OR Windows questions as they relate to Adobe programs
What I said is that I don't know the details of why CS2 may not install on a "newer" Mac... I **think** I saw a discussion of CS2 required an older hardware base which MAY have to do with a pre-Intel cpu, but I'm not sure

your right John, Photoshop CS2 will not run on a Mac with an Intel processor-so any modern Mac. It will run on Windows because PCs have always used Intel processors.

Afraid there is no real workaround for this Morten. On a powerful Mac you could run the Windows emulator and download CS2 for Windows but the performance is likely to be far from good.

You say you had the "2007" photoshop version.
Perhaps you had photoshop cs3, which would run on both PowerPC and Intel macs without having to use Rosetta on Intel macs.

Actually it WILL run on an Intel Mac, using something Apple created called "Rosetta". Almost forgotten today, it was important in its day for easing the transition to Intel Macs. It would run old ("PPC") software. Mac OS 10.6 was the last version of Mac OS to include Rosetta, so anything newer than that can't possibly run older software.
Soon this will happen again with another new and incompatible generation. Soon CS3 and CS4 will be as dead as CS2.
That said, it should run your old 10.4 system, with luck, persistence and a prevailing wind.

Actually, cs/cs2 will run on Intel macs, 10.4 thru 10.6, one just needs to have Rosetta installed.
The Intel macs starting with 10.7 are the ones older PowerPC applications won't work on, because Rosetta doesn't work on them.
