Export (save for web) animated gif

Hi, I'm learning how to creat animated gifs. When I export and save for web, I choose my file option (GIF), preset (Gif 128 Dithered) and colors (256). I preview it and everything works. When I click save it comes up as format (HTML and image), HTML only, or images only. And the extension is .html. When I hit save, it gives me a folder called images (but there is only one file, called .gif) and then it also gives me a file with .html. How do I get it so I have just one file that is an animated gif?

If you want just one file that is an animated GIF, you should not select “HTML and Images” in the Format menu. Select “Images Only” instead.

“HTML and Images” is usually for when you have created a design with multiple pieces that needs HTML code to hold it together, such as a document where you used the Slice tool.

I tried that, but then I lose my animation. It becomes just an image only.

Also, I never touched the slice tool. I have literally two layers, that I made into frames. That's it. And they animate in photoshop and they animate in the preview (on the export screen), but when I save it, it only gives me those options. AND, it does not have the .gif extension at all.

The HTML file should be in the folder that the folder Images is in. Images parent folder

When I put it in the same folder as the images and then click on the html file, the gif opens in a browser. If I put it in the folder with the images, it doesn't work (broken image).

Why did you move the html file into the images folder it belomgs in images parent folder. The HTML image tag has the image in the subfolder the HTLM file is in the images subfolder now that does not exists for you moved the HTML file.

Because you said "The HTML file should be in the folder that the folder Images is in. Images parent folder".

When I exported save as web (legacy) and then saved, this is what I got, just like this...

I should also note that I am using Photoshop 22.2 on a late 2015 imac.
