Font size not showing change in real time...

I use to be able to select my type and change the font size in the character window by hovering over and dragging left or right - as I did this, Photoshop would show me real time changes, as I went left or right. NOW, I am still able to change the font size this way, but it no longer shows me the changes in REAL TIME, I have to drag and let go, THEN it shows me the changes. It does the same thing with kerning, leading etc. when it was never this way before. I have no idea what I have done, but I uninstalled, reinstalled, erased preferences and nothing seems to fix this issue. PLEASE HELP
