Question

Gradient layer doesn't move

Hi

I just saw a video where someone created a gradient fill layer and then immedaitely moved it. I'm doing the same and it doesn't move. Nothing happens. Someone suspected I might be trying to move the mask by accident. No, I even deleted the mask and tried, same thing.

Related or not, if I try the Transform tool on this layer I get this error: "Could not transform because the initial bounding rectangle is empty"

Once I deleted the mask I didn't get this error message, but nothing happened. It didn't open the Transform.

I checked other layers to make sure everything is working.

I also just updated to 2020... so I opened the same file in 2018 to check... exactly the same problem.

I'm probably missing something silly...

Thanks!

You can move gradient while Gradient Fill dialogue is visible on screen. Double click Gradient Fill thumbnail to open dialogue then click on image and drag to move or reposition gradient.

This works, thank you! 🙂

I would never have expected to be able to move elements behind an active dialogue window...

Is »Align with layer« checked?

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?
