Question

How can I add my WM but leave it where I can remove it later if I need to for the customer

I don't like to keep my watermark on my images for the customer if they want the image printed,  I only use my watermark for social media copies.  When I'm editing in PS, how can I put my WM on there temporarily for sharing, but if my customer wants that photo printed, I would like to be able to take it off, without using the 'clone' tool ,  is there a way to do this ?

You need to save the image as a layered file (psd, tif and psb allow for this).

How do you create/place the watermark exactly?

Thanks for responding.  I kinda figured that out, or lets say, I've tested saving the photo as a PSD file & a jpeg file too.  I add my WM thru an action in my PS actions, this right here attached.

These are the couple of images I've already saved to a diff file.  I have not tried to reopen these yet, But I'm 'hoping' I've done this right.  I am just trying to save myself some work,  by adding the wm for my client to view , then when she decides which one she wants me to have printed for her, I will have that psd file to remove my wm.  hoping anyway.

Why are the file extensions missing in the screenshot?

What is your Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling > Append File Extension setting?

And could you please a screenshot woth the Layers Panel and the expanded Actions visible in the Acrions Panel after you applied the Action? (The Action could include flattening …)

Hi,  I'm sorry for not responding quickly, I'm working in about 3 different areas, & about to leave for a photo shoot, so I looked @ your ? above & under File Handling, I could not find ' append file extenstion " .  should it be under the file handling ?  it sounds like one of my settings is off, is that correct ?  I very rarely go into the guts of PS. I've only been working in PS for about 3 yrs now & definitely self taught.  my action does not include ' flattening' , I always have to flatten it.  So I guess I should not do that when I want to save it as as PSD file ?
