How can I create a 50% transparency?

I have an issue with a document I need comercially printing.

It can not handle 50% transparency boxes in CMYK mode.

I thought that if I could create a graphic with 50% white transparency and overlaid this with text I could maybe solve the problem.

Please does anyone have any idea if this will work and how to create an overall 50% white transparency.

Thank you in advance

Terry

If you put opaque text on a transparent object, the text is going to be opaque still. It's a common thing to have to get one's head around: it's the top elements that need transparency, not the bottom ones.

"It can not handle 50% transparency boxes in CMYK mode."

You are making an assumption that may not be valid.

50% Transparency is equivalent to 50% Opacity and the Opacity slider is available to you in the Layers panel. Please post the image and the Layers panel and tell us what you want to accomplish.
