How can I edit a droplet for Photoshop 6?

How can I edit a droplet for Photoshop 6? The company hired somebody to set up the droplet years ago, and nobody remembers how it was set up. The computer that was used to save the files has crashed, and I need to change the path the droplet uses for saving the files. I tried to open the droplet with Image Ready, but it said it was not an image ready droplet and could not be opened. The computer running Photoshop is using Windows XP.

I don't know if the script will work on PS6 droplets. They occasionally change the file format which means I have to update the script when that happens. If you cannot decompile the droplet, send it to me and I'll see what I can do.

The above mentioned script will work, but not in photoshop 6.

(ps 6 didn't have the necessary scripting plugins and such)

Do you have access to a version of photoshop cs2 or newer?

Also if you have a hex editor you might be able to open the droplet and see what the steps are

and recreate an action and droplet.

Thank you for the replies. We do not have access to a newer version of Photoshop, but just ordered one. The computer we are running Photoshop on is about to die, so we are going to have to replace that computer also. Quite an expensive week!

Once we get set up with the new computer and install CS5, can we copy the droplet to that computer and edit it? Or at least view the steps so they can be recreated?

The hex editor idea won't work, but you should be able to use the script in cs5 that c.pfaffenbichler linked to decomplile the droplet to an action.

You may want to check out xbytor’s DropletDecompiler.jsx.

Though that works for Photoshop 6 I don’t know …
