How can I fool a program into thinking my "Local C drive" is the "C" drive?

I don't expect anyone to know this on this forum but I thought I'd ask.

Long story short....... after processing about 600 photos in Photoshop for a job I did 8 years ago, I put the photos into a digital slide show program, ProShow Producer.

I now need to resurrect that show, but ProShow is looking for the photos on the "C" drive, which is what the C drive was called on the computer I had 8 years ago. My new computer's C drive is called the "Local C drive", not "C". Because of this, ProShow cannot find the files. I would have to browse and point the program to each and every one of the 600 photos.

I don't think renaming my current "Local C drive" to "C" would be a great idea because it could spook other programs looking for files it created and knows are on the "Local C drive".

Does anyone know a way I can make (or get the program) to think that the photos are on the "C" drive? Windows 10 computer.

    Why would Proshow Producer be looking for a disk with a disk label C ? What are you doing in the proshop application.    I would think a Slide Show producing application would be able to use images from any disk your machine can access one way or another.  Can you post a screen capture showing what you are doing when you get the error meassage.   Why are you asking your question in  a Photoshop user forum?  I think your in the wrong place  try this site: ProShow Producer - The world's leading professional video slideshow software.

    The reason that I'm here is because I don't think ProShow has a forum, and to get help from them anymore via their email only support, takes about 5 days, if ever. They're basically going out of business.

    The crux of the matter with the issue at hand is that the ProShow "show file" (the file that knows where all the photos are) needs to access files from the same spot where it saved them to, or it can't load them. I would have to point it to each and every one of the 600 photos in the show so I'm trying to avoid that. If I can put them in a path that is EXACTLY the same, then it will say "Ah, here they are" and load them all up automatically. However, on my new Win10 computer the C drive is not called "C", but "Local C drive", so the ProShow show file can't automatically load the files.

    Can you simply rename the drive in its Properties panel?

    [EDIT] I don't own Proshow, but I had Proshow Gold installed for a while on my last computer to help a Camera Club friend sort out a presentation.  I'd previously  used Premiere Prow for still image slide shows, but I have to say, I was very impressed with Proshow Gold, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I had a similar project myself.  Prem Pro is obviously overkill, but Proshow made it all so easy, and outputs a very slick end product.  The Proshow variants are very popular with Camera Club and Photographic Society people  in New Zealand, and I suspect elsewhere.  I looked at the variants at the time, and could not really see the point of Producer, and it was a lot more expensive for  a few  extra features.

    Interesting but it looks very complicated and not sure it will do the trick.

    In the example at that link, it shows that the root directory would be changed from C to "C:\Link To Folder" "C:\Users\Name\Original Folder". Just the "link to folder" would throw ProShow off completely. The name that it was years ago has to be exact, which was something like C/users/name/job32/Ron/images. That can't be changed or Proshow won't find it. Not sure if adding a "point to" will do it or not.

    I don't see ProShow Enthusiasts anywhere, not even in a search at that link.

    And yes, getting help from ProShow is nearly illegal anymore. They don't do any phone support anymore, you have to email them and if you're lucky they might email you back 5 days later. They're nearly out of business at this point.


    This is the correct product, one that does slideshows?

    ProShow Enthusiasts is the title of the main page. The linked page still says so. There are many forums there, one which should be worth asking in if only for directions to the right forum.

    Otherwise you can temporarily rename the C drive long enough to fetch the files and rename it back again when done.
