How to get rid of black background in CC 2017 to look like CS5?

I "had" to upgrade to CC due to the fact my old iMac was dying and I had to get another one.  I tried running my CS5 on the new one, but it's just not performing correctly.  Can anyone tell me if it's possible to get rid of the black area in photo 1 so that you can see the desktop like in photo 2?  CS 5 is MUCH easier to work in vs. CC because I can have different folders of photos up and see them.  In CC 2017, these folders are hidden by the black background (maybe it's called art board, not sure??).  This "art board" thing reminds me of many moons ago when I started out on PSE.  Any help would be appreciated!!

I almost forgot, Window menu and uncheck Application Frame (near the bottom of this menu) if you want to see your Desktop.

Yes, a lot of us have been here for years and we would likely have an idea what you might be looking for and what the term is.

That's the advantage of the User - User Support Forums. We volunteer our time to help others to sort out Photoshop, but we are not the official Customer Care. As a CC user you can chat with them, but CS5 owners are not entitled to their support.
