How to resize without loosing quality?

Hi,

I have a 1100x700 px HD image with unchangeable text inside. When I resize the image to the size 321x208 px, it get distorted, the text don't show with the same quality as the original.
How can I keep the same quality of the original?

Would appreciate the help...

The only way to scale text without losing quality is where the text is in the document as a separate vector layer. This is the way the text tool inserts text.

From your description, it sounds like the text is part of the pixel image.

In that case you can minimise the impact using Bicubic Sharper to resample but there will be an impact on quality.

Solved it! Just create a new page with 321x208 px and just scale/transform down to fit in it.

Anyhow, would like to know how to use vector based text, that would be very insightful for me, so could you explain? Would appreciate it.

btw: my text is a part of the image. I tried using Lasso to cut it out and then resize that. See, to be working using transforming feature.

As Dave explained, you need a separste text layer. When you save a copy of your work, say as a JPG, it makes it one layer. It's always good practice to keep your original Photoshop layered document so that you can always go back to it to make further changes in the future (which in my experience you often need to do!).
