Set view to pixel grid.
On a document background, place an image.
That image will become a smart object.
For that image layer select: Edit> transform> distort
Zoom in to the pixel grid on a handle of the image.
Try to align the handle to a corner on the pixel grid.
The handle will not land on a corner of the pixel grid but jerks away.
Why?
Not a memory problem, sorry.
The above worked for years and then…there was an update and it stopped working.

I have 300 documents that contain 3 images aligned to a grid (The above should say grid not pixel grid, although it is at pixel level magnification.)
I just noticed that when I select distort on a layer in one of the 300, the handle jumps out of alignment and I can’t move it back to the grid corner. When I hit ESC or place, it returns to alignment.
This does seem like a memory problem but the process is heavily CPU and RAM memory changes very little in fact it stays below 50% which means PS is only using one of the 8GB chips.
Graphics card issue?
