Image processor pro broken CC 2018

Hi.

IPP was working last week after I updated both Bridge and Pshop to 2018. Today when I select a single image from Bridge and try to open Image Processor Pro I get the error message: The command "<unknown>" is not currently available.

IPP is critical to my workflow.

Thanks for any help.

I have only ever installed manually, so I just drag files (on Mac and Windows) to specific folders per the PDF. It's actually SUPER easy. Just remember to COPY the files to the new locations and not MOVE them. That way, your original stuff isn't disturbed for when PS is updated and you need to re-install.

I got the originals so long ago, that I may very well have downloaded them from Russel Brown's page, I don't remember. I do remember that I was surprised to learn that the script and functionality was available again (after it wasn't for so long), and I also remember that I did download it from a reputable source (not a torrent or download.com or something like that). We used this setup religiously when I worked at Apple, and then it was gone...   It was tough to get past.

To restate: The SAME script pack installs on Mac and Windows. I just haven't (yet) tested this specific install on Mac. I can say it runs on Windows.

PM me if you need help installing manually or if you cannot find the script pack v2015 3.2b5.

FYI

I don't claim to be an engineer or to understand why, but I got IPP Pro working after installing manually in PS CC2018. Just 5 minutes ago.

I am using version 2015 3.2b5. I installed manually (following PDF instructions) on Windows 10 x64 on my new Core i9 PC. I have not checked it on Mac.

NOTE: The PDF calls out a manual file copy of "ImageProcessorPro.xml". The actual file (since the scripts have been updated) is called "ImageProcessorPro.mxi". If I copy that file, the script appears to work fine.

All I use IPP Pro for in saving out files in 5 different formats and sizes with custom names (used along with an Action). There may very well be other applications of the script that may not work properly and that I may not be aware of.

Good luck!

spdorsey: Thanks for the info! Questions:

If I remember correctly, installing IPP in the previous version of Bridge/Photoshop required checking a box in the Startup Scripts section of Preferences, so I don't remember how to install it manually:

Did you grab the original file from Russell Brown's page? Did you find the previous version of the file on your hard drive with instructions? I don't imagine the process will be the same for a Mac but your experience might point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Maybe they haven't upgraded it for the latest version of Photoshop, maybe you can keep a version of PS that works with it and use that when you need it. Presumably Image Processor, that comes with PS  doesn't do what you want (I don't think IP Pro is part of Adobe).

Thanks for your reply.

IPP is now part of Adobe CC. Or it was as of the previous version of CC.

I have downloaded and updated both Bridge and Pshop to the current versions as mentioned. Until today, IPP was working.

Re-loading a four year old version of the program, which may or may not still be supported by Dr. Brown outside of Adobe, does not appeal to me much.

20 minutes on the phone and remote viewing with Adobe. The tech I worked with seemed unfamiliar with IPP, it took him awhile dig through his resources and at one point told me it was 3rd party software and Adobe doesn't support it. I said that it WAS 3rd party software but Adobe had incorporated it into CC some time ago.

He got back on the line with me and I was told that Adobe understands there is a problem with Image Processor Pro in CC2018 and they are working on a fix. No ETA. It was suggested that I roll back to 2017. Trying that now.

As I make a living with it, I do not install beta software on my computer when I can help it but these days it seems nothing is shipped fully baked.
