Increase stroke width beyond 250px

I created an ellipse and used the gradient stroke feature to make a multicolored outline. I want the outline to be much thicker (3 or 4x), but the "layer style" box limits it at 250px. Bigger circle, smaller circle, doesn't matter. 250px is all. This is an issue because I'm creating this as a 5ft by 5ft print, so it must be a large circle, pixel-wise.

Is there a way to go around this and make a thicker border?

Or, is there just a better way in general to make a circle that has a multicolored border?

Hi

A circular shape allows a stroke of up to 1200px (you can still use an angled gradient). If that is not sufficient then - combining two circular shapes as described by Nancy will allow you any size.

To be honest though - for that design - I would use Illustrator

Thank you for this! I don't have access to Illustrator, so this work around helps a lot.

Use an ellipse inside another ellipse that has a gradient fill and no stroke.  See screenshot.  Group or merge visible layers.
