I just found out that when u use distort and then apply Laso will remove substracted areas that will be selected with ALT which is realy weird why is doing that

for those who dont understand if you select with laso lets say person then free transform it and use Distort then hit enter to apply and while stilll have selected the person and you wanna subtract (ALT) the selection for ex. leg it will remove what u substract like erase it not just remove the selection of laso

as i  select lets say character from image with laso tool and werry rarely but what happens is that since i modify selected character and then i spot that i need to substract or trim or remove a prt that i dont want to be selected for exapmle leg when i deselecit the leg using Alt+left clikck and draging the shape it will remove the selected area as if i was using eraser or pressed delete button instantly ...i dont know what triggers subsctracting with laso tool a erasing behaviour

    Hi

Can you show a screen shot?

To confirm: Are you saying you saying you have a character selected and are trying (for example) to deselect the leg and the pixels for the leg get deleted when you Alt+Drag with the Lasso tool?

Try resetting the tools by going to the options bar across the top and right-clicking the current tool, then Reset all tools.

If that doesn’t work, back up actions, swatches, gradients, and all of your presets, then quit PS and reset Preferences.

Like Jane, I'm struggling to get a clear understanding of your issue.   Using the Alt (Opt) key to remove from a selection, is normal, and how it is supposed to work.   If we are not understanding your issue, could you describe it in more detail please.

Also, tell us what version of Photoshop you are using, and to be safe, what operating system.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

That does not sound right, as the tool is not working as expected, could you try resetting the tool and let us know if it helps?

Basic troubleshooting steps to solve problems and issues in Adobe Photoshop

Also, what version of Photoshop and the operating system you're working with?

I may or may not understand what you are asking.

Once you finish making your selection and then modify it with the same selection tool or a different selection tool, using the Alt key with a selection tool will subtract from the selection and the using the Shift key will add to the selection.

Is that what is happening or is it something else? Please clarify.
