Layered Vector PDF

Hello!

I need to make a layered, vectored PDF with text converted to outlines for an advertisement flag I'm trying to order online for my work. The problem is: I have no idea what that means or how to do that! Can anyone decifer this for a dummy like me?

I've tried sending them a few different versions but they keep sending it back. They won't clarify what they meant because they want me to pay them to do it for it.

Thank you 🙂

Ideally the PDF is authored in Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator. Photoshop is "not really" a vector program, it is raster (pixel) based. Although it is possible to create vector outline text and add other vector elements in Photoshop, the result is not really the same as other programs. Additionally, layers in PDF files are not really the same thing as found in Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign.

  • Working on a copy of the original layered file, you can "outline" text layers using the Type menu > Convert to Shape.
  • First Save As window, save as Photoshop PDF with layers checked.
  • Next save Adobe PDF window, check Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities.
