When I use the Patch tool and patch an object, it does not show the dashed lines,

aka marching ants, until I let go of my mouse.  Since I cant see the selection's outline,

it is hard to tell when I get back to the beginning. This issue occurs with all other tools that involve making a selection. It does not show the outline until you let go. Please help...thank you in advance!

is your graphic card up to date?

try turning off “ use graphic processor “ from:

edit -> preferences-> performance then restart photoshop

if that does not work,

reset preferences : edit -> preferences-> general

You can make a selection any way you want to and then switch to the Patch tool — you don’t have to make the selection with the Patch tool itself. Does it work to make a selection with a different method, then switch to the Patch tool?

Personally, I find the Patch tool clunky for making selections when there are so many other brilliant ways in Photoshop!
