Question

Merging photos

I have a set of 6 photos I took of an aircraft on final approach over Gravelly Point into Reagan National Airport.   I used a tri-pod with continuous burst shots so the background, which includes the Washington Monument, does not move, only the aircraft.  I use Photoshop CC 2019 and have been looking at some of the threads on here but I honestly am not following along.  Can someone provide the sequence for merging these photos?    Also, do I need to edit the photos first out of RAW into Jpg?

Thanks.

I would have done what JJ Mack suggested. But, there's a lot of great suggestions here.  But more info would be great.  Like, how you're wanting to arrange the photos or giving us an example of what you're aiming for

How you put them together depends on what you want your final outcome to be. Do you want an image with multiple planes? Or do you want a panorama?

I am wanting my shots overlapping to where the background stays the same but the plane coming in on final approach is shown in sequence.  Hope that makes sense.

I'm taking it you want several images of the plane with one background without movement. Load all the files into one Photoshop document by using Bridge:

Then just add a mask using alt/opt to all but one layer, so that the masks are black and don't show. Then paint in with a white brush on each mask where the planes are in each image.

AIf your trying to make them a Pano, then open all the images and select File / Automate / Photomerge.  Choose Automatic from the choices and add all the open photos.   This will merge them all if there is enough overlap between the images for Photoshop to sort it out.

Have you tried loading the images into a stack aligned.  Select all the layers and convert to a smart object layer and try the various  stack mode blending options. If you can not get the results you want. You will need to backup in history till you have your stack again. Then add hide all layer mask to all layers but the  bottom one. Then Paint with white on each layers layer mask to reveal the plane in each layer.
