When transferring data and apps to a new computer (Mac), is it necessary to uninstall CS6 from the old computer first and then reinstall it in the new computer?
Or just use Migration Assistant to transfer?
If your going to still use cs6 on your old computer then you can leave it, otherwise in photoshop cs6 go to Help>Deactivate
and then use the Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS6 in /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
On your new computer install a new copy of photoshop cs6.
You can get the installer file from here:
Download Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications

scatters stuff all over the drive that the Migration Assistant won't find.

Thanks so much for this information Jeff. This is very helpful.
One other question ... What about "Actions" and other presets I have on CS6, how do I preserve those?

I am purchasing a new iMac desktop and am currently running PS CS6. Since PS CS6 will not run on the latest MacOS, how can I safely transfer all of my PS photos to my new computer? I understand I will have to purchase a new PS subscription for the new Mac, but do I have to have it already installed prior to migration? Also, can I migrate from CS6 to the newest PS version?
Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to lose all my work.
Thanks for your help on this one.

Your photos are not stored inside CS6. They are stored wherever you put them (hard drive, external drives, cloud drives like dropbox, etc...). However you normally move files between computers is fine.
There is no upgrade path from CS6 to Creative Cloud. CS6 is discontinued and hasn't been sold for years.
