Question

Moving layer using the Move tool leaves a duplicate image in the original spot

I just installed 21.2 (on a Windows 10 machine) and am regretting it.

When I move a layer using the move tool, it leaves an image where it was before, which only disappears when I hide and unhide a layer behind it. It's driving me nuts.

Image 007 - original placement.

Image 008 - after moving a layer, an image remains behind.

Image 009 - hiding a layer removes the image.

Image 010 - NONE of these layers are actually duplicated. The doubles are all ghosts left behind.

Hi, please try to update to 21.2.1, as one of the listed bug fixes is for this very problem, and please report if it worked: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues.html#photoshop-desktop-fixed-issues

(but leaving legacy off is the best option going forward, anyways)

Hi! How do I turn off The Legacy compositing? I have the same problem and I´m pretty new at this. Thanks!

Open Preferences > Performance and uncheck Legacy Compositing.

Same!

And my masks are not working properly! Black is not erasing on them.

Hi, have you tried to enable legacy compositing in preferences?

that does work, when you enable legacy, but why should we have to do that?  I just happened to have a composite job 1st up after June update. Composites are PHOTOSHOP 101 guys!  Why should I (we) spend an hour trying to figure out WHY the ghost image was behind the reduced size version being transformed down?  Why didn't adobe upgraders just simply tell us about the glicth?....or better still, make it work up front.

I want my hour back!

I'm having the exact same problem. Same photoshop version (21.2) but I'm on macOS Catalina.
