multiply overlay not working

New Here ,
Sep 27, 2019 Sep 27, 2019

I'm trying to add a sky overlay to my photos but every time I select the blending modes, the colors are way off. It is very frustrating! When I select multiply, the sky overlay gets either very dark or is minimally visible. What's going on?

I think you have sky on your image and you are adding another sky with blending mode applied. It is happening exactly what should happen and what blending mode should do: mixing existing colors on layer below with colors on layer above using some mathematical caculations. Here is one of the tutorials which may help you to beter understand blending modes https://photoshoptrainingchannel.com/blending-modes-explained/

Every blend mode, have different effect. you say u select multply ...
why not,,, choose overlay or softlight. if u wanna ad the sky,  i think u want the lighter color are shown. so you must select blend mode like :scree, lighten, overlay, softlight. put the layer above the main layer
