No Undo

I've had CS5 since around when it first came out and this is the second time I've gotten a project requiring me to get deep into Photoshop. It has been quite frustrating this time as I am finding bugs (in InDesign too but I already posted about that).

What I am finding now is that Undo is not working. Almost everything I do it either won't Undo when I choose undo from the menu or press command-x  OR the menu simply says "can't undo". Now, I can go into the History palette but the quick way of command-x is my routine and is much faster.

Things I have tried to undo but can't:

- crop an image

- add a type layer

- fill with a pattern

- add an adjustment layer

...to name a few off the top of my head.

GRRRRRR

Mac OS 10.6.4

4 GB RAM

Photoshop 12.0.1 running in x32

Getting heavy into doing a website and I'm still encountering this problem. It seems to happen randomly. Sometimes if I restart Photoshop the problem goes away, but it comes back eventually.

Are you manually changing the zoom level at any point? In particular, are you entering a new zoom value in the lower left corner of the image window? One person reported this as a way to trigger the problem, and I am able to reproduce this myself. Let me know if this is the case for you as well.

I'd just like to point out that the bug STILL exists in Photoshop 12.1

    Command-x is cut.

Probably you should try resetting your prefs:

    Cmd-x was a typo, I meant cmd-z.

I just restarted Photoshop to see if that will fix it. Here's what I tried...

    1. filled the document will the foreground color - undo worked

    2. added a new layer - undo did not work

    3. added a layer style - undo worked

    4. added an adjustment layer, changed the saturation - undo did not work

    5. added a type layer and typed in some text - undo did not work

    6. changed the text color - undo worked

I'm beginning to wonder if they actually changed what Photoshop is able to undo now. It's becoming quite frustrating because things you could undo before you can't anymore (I upgraded from CS3).

    Resetting prefs made no difference.
