Not right kind of file

Trying to open a .tif file, get "not right kind of document" error. Will not open with "Open As..." either. Photoshop WILL open other .tif files.

Illustrator opens the same file just fine.

Windows photo viewer opens it as well.

Windows 10

RAM 16GB

PS CC 2017

AI CC 2017

You could also try using Camera Raw to open the tiff file.

I talked to Adobe support, they said it was a corrupted layer. It would open if the program opened it flattened (like AI or Photo Viewer) but trying to open with layers gives the error. Sooo I get to rebuild my file!

Normally Photoshop will open TIFF files. Have you tried dragging the tiff file into an open Photoshop window?

I can go into Illustrator, export as .tif and PS will then open it. But I lose my layers doing that. Is there any way to save the layers? And get PS to open it?
