Photoshop 2019 Freezes every 3-5 minutes.

Hey PS community. Hope you all are well and that someone here can help me get to the root of an issue I am having.

I want to preface this with that I did find people with similar issues as far back as 2012, 2014 and 2016 but none of the forum threads had a solution. So I hope that those people got the help they needed however, it was unclear from their threads.

Additionally, I am running PS 2019 on a 64 Win 10 pro machine with a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24" and a secondary 4k screen. The machine is an absolute beast I honestly cannot imagine this being a memory issue. Plus the issues I am about to explain happens on files small and large.

Ok, now for the issue - PS freezes every 3-5 minutes. It does not crash. It simply freezes all functionality within PS except for the cursor. I can move my cursor but cannot click anything within PS. If I move my cursor to my second monitor everything else within windows or other Adobe products works just fine. To fix this all I have to do is simply Alt+Tab to another application and Alt+Tab back to PS and everything works again. This continues every few minutes and I have to continue switching back and forth between apps to fix it. I am sure you can all imagine how insanely frustrating this is when you are trying to digitally paint within PS.

Please help. This has pretty much rendered my workflow and productivity to a "non-functional" status.

Sorry for lack of updates. This issue went away and I got busy working again and forgot to reply. Well...turns out the issue went away because I disabled GPU Processing. I didn't even realize I tried this, I must have done this right after someone suggested it and forgot to actively monitor the result. The result is great, everything works. However, I do not like that I have to "cripple" a PSD function in order for it to work properly. Is there anything that can be done or troubleshooted to turn GPU PRocessing back on and not have the annoying freezing?

While we are on the topics of GPU Acceleration can someone please shed some light on if it makes sense to purchase a Quadro or a more high-end consumer card like the 1080 Ti for HEAVY PSD and Illustrator Illustration work. I'm talking about hundreds or thousands of complex vectors or heavy digital painting at very high resolutions. I have read many threads about this but they all focus on CAD and 3D work. I have a 1080 Ti and bought it prematurely for the reason of having a high end video card (and because I do some gaming).

As of April 2019 I wouldn't recommend it. A machine with a 1080ti or better won't matter if PS can't use the GPU properly. As of now this issue still exists and is incredibly frustrating.

Ok, Here is the System Info. And the update so far.
I have tried updating everything - that didn't work.

However, turning off GPU does seem to work. I am going to say it's inconclusive until I use it for an extended period of time and turn on and off some other apps IO use on the daily. But it's looking positive. The question then becomes what do I do about this just leave my GPU off? I would like it to be on and actually fix the problem. Advice?

Hi

Have you tried updating your GPU and Wacom drivers, may help if you posted your Photoshop system info, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info and copy and paste that into this thread

I will definitely look into the memory first.

Uninstall with clearing the presences and then install.

Happened to me when I first installed it. A clean uninstall and Install fixed the problem.

Sorry to hear that, could you please try updating to Photoshop 20.0.3 which was released recently via the Creative Cloud desktop app and let us know if it helps?

Also, you may try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and see how it goes.
