Photoshop 2021 - Pathetically Slow, Buggy, Crashes

I'm running Photoshop 2021 on an Imac (macos 10.15.7, 4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, MD Radeon R9 M290X 2 GB), and I have never encounted an Adobe product so slow and buggy -- crashes, slow performance, incompatibility issues with certain plugins (Nik), etc. The prior Photoshop release was considerably more stable and offered realtively consistent performance, but the current version is a complete dog and is barely usable. Anyone else experiencing performance issues with Photoshop 2021 (on either platform?
