Photoshop 22.1.1 - Embedded ICC Profile cannot be used

Community Beginner ,

I just updated to PS 22.1.1 and if I go to Bride, open a raw file into Camera Raw, do my usual adjustments, and then open to Photoshop, I then get an error "The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the ICC profile description is invalid.  Ignoring the profile."   If I then select continue, it's opens the file into Photoshop, but it appears some of the colours etc are muted.

How can I fix please?   Thank you!

That message can come up if your monitor profile is bad (not the document profile).

Replace your current monitor profile with sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as a temporary fix (Adobe RGB if wide gamut monitor). The proper way to deal with it is to use a calibrator to make a new profile, but if you don't have one, sRGB is often close enough for non-critical work. Relaunch Photoshop when done, it loads the profile at application startup.

If that's not it, and it really is a problem with the profile ACR embeds in the file, go into ACR workflow settings and try sRGB, Adobe RGB and ProPhoto to narrow it down. It should be said, though, that these profiles are almost never bad. The monitor profile is much more likely.

Hi, thank you for your input.  I made the changes, confirmed they are in effect, but I still get the same error message.  If I click continue, it loads the image but it looks flat and without the changes I made in Camera Raw, same as before.  I think I may need to uninstall and reinstall PS 22.1.1 again.  Nothing else has changed, other than the update.

Thank you.

In ACR, it was set to Adobe RBG.  I chnaged that to sRGB, and it seems to work now.  I'll see if it continues to work though my workflow, with PS, with Nik, etc.  Thanks so much for taking the time to help!  Very kind of you!

Well, it still doesnt work with Nik Color Efex Pro 4... after the filter finishes, the effect is not shown.  If I use a tool like healing brush, then suddenly the Nik effect shows.  It also still hangs while saving, regardless of where I try to save it.

I think I'm stuck with uninstall / reinstall.

Thank you though!
